Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), established in 1996, is a public institute supported by AEPC and has 119 centres across India. ATDC has been registered as a society under Societies Act 1991. ATDC is a Vocational Training Provider (VTP) focusing mainly on apparel-related activities. The courses offered here include degree programs, diploma programs and certificate programs. The Apparel Training and Design Centre B.Voc degree program is offered in collaboration with RGNIYD (Institute of national importance). The diploma programs are aligned with NSQF. Their certificate is accredited by NSDC. The certificate programs are NSQF aligned and provided by AMH SSC/ NSDC.
Apparel Training and Design Centre courses are also sponsored by National Corporations under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. The scholarships provided by ATDC through Gap India “Merit-cum-Means” is available to support girls. Female candidates can undertake the one-year diploma programs and six-month certificate programs in Apparel Training and Design Centre under the Merit-cum-Means scholarship scheme.

ATDC has implemented the Skill development project in various states of India under the banner of Skill Development Missions. In this project mission, ATDC has made an effort to educate more than 10,000 candidates under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme from the field of Public Sector undertakings and corporates, which came directly and through agencies. Under the CSR mission, Apparel Training and Design Centre, Gurgaon has made the objective of selecting lesser educated people who can read and write to provide them skill training and make them capable of working in the garment industry. In the process, ATDC aims to employ lesser educated people with their training programmes. Apparel Training and Design Centre, Gurgaon is eligible to undertake the CSR funding as per the Companies Act, 2013 since ATDC is registered as a Society under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and has been conducting similar Vocational training programmes since 1996 and running CSR projects since last 9 years. Apparel Training and Design Centre, Gurgaon, has trained more than 11,000 unemployed candidates under the CSR project.
Among several projects undertaken by Apparel Training and Design Centre, Gurgaon, the Recognition of Prior Learning project also aims to improve employment opportunities for the weaker section of society. RPL project is mainly concerned with people who are not having formal training or educational certificates but have the technical skills of a particular job through experience. Under the RPL project, ADCL aims to map the untrained but skilled workforce with the place of work where they are highly required. The workforce was unable to get suitable jobs due to the non-availability of degree certificates or training certificates even though they have the skill of handling the work. The lack of training in these workers often shows specific gaps in skill and understanding while they are at work. The gaps of the untrained workers are filled up within the RPL project so that they can perform to their full potential, and their skills are mapped with certificates having Global recognition. The project of Recognition of Prior Learning is beneficial for both the Apparel Industry and the candidates.

Since, 2001, NBCFDC has been giving sanctions to ATDC for imparting Skill training to Backward Class candidates over 15000 Backward Class candidates sponsored by NBCFDC. Out of these 2700 candidates sponsored by Power Finance Corporation a public sector company under their CSR Scheme through NBCFDC with the total financial assistance of 4.5 crores towards training cost, stipend, boarding and lodging charges etc.
Since, 2006, NMDFC has been giving sanctions to ATDC for imparting skill training to minority candidates. ATDC’s pan-India network has so far trained over 1200 minority candidates sponsored by NMDFC
Since 2000, NSFDC has been giving sanctions to ATDC for imparting skill training to Scheduled Caste candidates. The ATDC’s pan-India network has so far trained over 10000 SC candidates sponsored by NSFDC
Since, 2007, NSKFDC has been giving sanctions to ATDC for imparting skill training to safai karamcharis. ATDC’s pan-India network has so far trained over 1500 safai karamcharis sponsored by NSKFDC.
The NYKS, Ministry of Youth Affairs, GoI, has been sponsoring ATDC candidates for SMART courses for over a year now. The ATDC Pan-India network has so far trained over 300 candidates sponsored by NYKS and recently, an approval to train 4,320 candidates has been received. Total of 4,380 candidates trained to date. Ministry of Youth Affairs sanctioned during Dec’2013 sponsorship of 4,500 candidates (Ex-volunteers NYKS) for longer-term courses (500 for one-year duration, 1500 for 6 months duration and 2500 for 4 months duration).
Department of Social Welfare, Tamil Nadu, has mandated ATDC to up-skill 54,000 uniform tailors and plans to provide them with modern Juki machines post-training so as to augment their earning capabilities.
Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO) has been sponsoring candidates for longer-term courses for over 10 years to provide training to the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes / Scheduled Caste converted to Christianity. In 2013-14 as well TAHDCO sponsored 510 candidates in courses of duration two months to one year.
